A landmark in the establishment of Programme Extension Centres for add-on courses for CLHRD is the one at Maharani’s Arts College for Women and Maharani’s Science College for Women, Mysore.
These colleges under the leadership of their principals Prof V.N. Nagaratna and Prof C.K. Viswanath, and Facilitators Dr T.S. Venugopal and Dr Soumya Kumar have shown how Government colleges can circumvent problems that they face in conducting add-on courses, especially in association with other institutions, especially again, those in the private. The most fascinating fact of the PEC is that what they started as a single batch of thirty students had to end up with four batches of thirty students each, with still more pending applicants for admission to the two-semester Personality Development Programme.
